As another Memorial Day goes by, Americans are being reminded of our fallen heroes, and the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedom.

We look at the way things are now ( well not exactly RIGHT now), and we all take for granted what has been given.

We do this so much, that for many, the only time a fallen veteran is even thought of is BECAUSE it is the day of honoring them.

Veterans, alive or not deserve our respect and admiration.

They did what many people cannot and will not do.

They put themselves in harm’s way for the greater good.

Memorial day is important and here’s how

  • Veterans offer the greatest form of sacrifice.

Facing potential death to fight for your country is one of the bravest things a person can do.

Human beings, for the most part are selfish. We tend to think only of ourselves and ignore the bigger picture.

We think about what is easiest for us, and how we can benefit.

Veterans however are the exact opposite of selfish.

The Vets knew that war was not going to be easy, but they went through it anyway.

Despite the danger, they embraced what they felt they needed to do.

They put their lives on the line, so we could live ours more fully. If that does not count as a sacrifice I don’t know what does.

  • It reminds us of how valuable our lives are.

Many fallen heroes died at a very young age. They never got to experience life post-war. They never got to grow old.

The luxury of living a long life may not have been given to fallen veterans, but many of us are a lot more lucky.

Our lives are valuable, and we owe it to all the heroes that died fighting for us to live them to the fullest.

Conclusion

Memorial Day is a reminder of the dangers of war, and the sacrifice that it entails.

Many people have died fighting for freedom. Fighting to make a difference. One that would affect lives forever.

Their actions should be commended, and given the highest level of respect.

Without those who fought for our freedom, we would not be where we are today.

In the end, life would be a lot better if we would just begin to think about things more like our fallen vets.

We must all aspire to live our lives the best way we can. We only have one, and it is safe to say that without the veterans who sacrificed their lives, ours would not be the same.
