Human creativity has fundamentally changed the way we live our lives.

The world has had many advancements throughout its existence. This is especially the case within the last few hundred years.

During this relatively short amount of time, society has evolved greatly. We now have things that our ancestors could only have dreamt of.

We have electricity, automobiles, high-speed internet, and even robotic vacuum cleaners to do the work for us. Because of human creativity, we are arguably in the best period of human existence.

Creative thinking, which is a form of fluid intelligence, is done by many people every single day.  Unfortunately, there is a bit of a misconception of it that all too many people seem to believe.

A lot of people are under the impression that creativity is something you either are born with or without. This could not be further from the truth.

All of us have the potential to be creative. It is up to us to make that decision for ourselves.

Creativity is a good thing.

It, like many things, is dependent on what we choose. We can unlock our creative potential if we truly want to.

The importance of creativity

Creativity is the prerequisite to innovation. It is through creative thinking that intelligent minds have changed the way we go about life.

As  Mihaly Csikszentmihaly once said, “ Creativity is a central source of meaning in our lives… Most of the things that are interesting, important, and human are the results of creativity”.

What he is saying is true. Human creativity has allowed for much of what we enjoy.

All of the books that we read, all of the automobiles we drive, and all of the homes that we live in, started out as nothing but a vision. However, in time, they became a reality.

Our advancements in society are due largely in part to the resilience of brilliant and creative minds.  This has been the case in the past, and it will continue to be the case in the future.

We as a society must be aware of this. Sure people are not always right in their assessments, but that is a part of the scientific process.

It doesn’t matter how many times we fail just as long as there is success in the end.

This is important for everyone to remember. Especially those who engage in creative thinking.

It takes time, energy, and resources to make substantial change, but it is worth it in the end. Society is better off for it.

Conclusion

Over the years, many incredible achievements have been made. I don’t envision this trend going away any time soon.

I believe with the way things are headed; things will advance even more so than ever before. That’s a good thing though.

Innovation beyond our wildest dreams could be just around the corner. One person’s creative thinking can change the world forever.

Who knows, one of you reading could be that person. It’s up to you not to squander the opportunity away.

Embrace your creativity. It may just make the world a better place
