In my most recent post, I talked about the importance of acknowledgment. In it, I spoke about how it is important to access things for how they actually are and to not delude yourself by downplaying the reality of your situation. Basically my goal was to show that in some instances a change in perspective is necessary.  Today I will talk about what comes next.  That being change.

Changing for the better

Once you admit that you have a problem, the next step is fixing it.

Although the road ahead may be difficult, it is certainly doable.

Changing for the better may be difficult initially, but it will be worth it in the end.

There are a couple of key factors that can drastically affect the potential outcome of your situation

  • An accountability partner

Although you may feel shame or embarrassment because of your struggle, it is very important to have someone by your side.

Facing your problem alone is not a good idea, and it is not advised ( at least not by me) Having someone by your side, even if it is just one person, can give you more incentive to try. Since you are accountable to more than just yourself, it is possible that you may put more of an effort into changing.

  • Your attitude

In order for change to occur. you need to be in the right mindset.

Instead of focusing on the difficulty of change, focus instead on the freedom that the change will bring you.

If you only think about how difficult the change can be, you will be less likely to commit to it.

Changing old habits can be hard to do, but with the right attitude, and a little bit of motivation, it is much more achievable.

Benefiting from your change.

Once you begin to take control of your situation. you will start reaping the benefits.

No longer will you feel that you are a slave to your impulses.

No longer will vices control who, and what you can be. You are in control now!

Once you begin to take back your life, you will not want to go back to the way things were before. The old way of life will only be a memory, and you will want it to remain that way.

Conclusion

Although acknowledging the problem is an important step in the process of change, without actually implementing the action, it is pointless.

Once you start to turn your life back in the direction you want, you will see benefits for sticking until the end.  It may be tough but you will survive, and you will come out a better person because of it.
